Now today is Monday, time of reflection. Friday night I was hanging out with some pretty hippied out folks. These be my peeps. One of my girlfriends mentioned that she seasonly does a “Master Cleanse.” It’s basically a liquid diet for 4-40 days that’s supposed to detoxify your body. After reading up on it, I learned that the average person has about 10-15 excess pounds SITTING in their bowels unable to pass because of built up toxins? How you ask, well…
Apparently our body is exposed to toxins all day long. Food, beverages, sweeteners, all of which I consume regularly. Well the liver gets overloaded and basically “puts off” the toxins it can’t handle. Now our liver is never actually able to get to the “set aside” toxins, and therefore we get blocked, if you will. Now the master cleanse is supposed to completely empty out the system of build up. It’s drinking this concoction that is easy on the intestine, so the liver/kidney can process all of the clogged toxins. Then, hypothetically youre cleansed.
After researching, I of course found many blogs of people doing the master cleanse. Most of them seemed successful, although at times difficult. It’s weird to think of not chewing for 10 days, but I believe that it will be good for my body. A cleanse.
I started the Master Cleanse today. I semi-started yesterday, just to make sure I liked “the formula” and in my opinion, it’s delicious! But I really like lemonade and maple syrup so… I’m golden. But after BK called I had to post-pone the official start until today. Sometimes a girl must sacrifice her body for the greater good :)
However, even after just 1 day of drinking the juice, instead of eating… I feel lighter. I’m not hungry, I’m not tired. I do miss chewing, but I’m totally capable of getting over that. If anything I believe this will help sate my oral fixation (I’m ALWAYS munching on something.)
The only downside to a cleanse, my social life. It’s amazing how much my life is based around consumption. “Let’s go grab a drink.” “what are you doing for lunch?” “Let’s bake so&so cookies for his birthday.” It’s everywhere. It’s hard to join friends for dinner when you just order water. It’s anti-social and uncomfortable. However, I’m going to cope with this. I am STILL going to participate, even though some might find me lame.
I will cleanse my body. (I feel like a poser.)
